When it comes to choosing a web host for your small business hosting you want to be sure you have the best possible performance going.
To make it cost effective you probably end looking for a shared hosting account. This means that you and other people share the resources available on the server.
You’ll find though that when the cost of hosting is low, it’s likely there are 100’s if not 1000’s of other sites on the same server all using the same resource. This presents a few problems.
First and foremost, if one user is doing something very heavy on the web server, everyone else has to wait for the resources to become available again. Now, we’re talking seconds here. But, 2 seconds according to those in the know about the web is make or break.
Secondly, it can lead to security risks. It means if one user has malware on their account, this can easily spread. Shared hosting is an eco system made up of files – one file can become contaminated after another.
To prevent both of the above occurring we use an operating system called CloudLinux.
We are a shared web host – although a little different. We don’t cram zillions of accounts onto our servers. They are carefully managed to ensure they never become overburdened.
CloudLinux allows us to do 2 things.
Firstly, all user accounts are contained in what is called cages. It means that if an issue occurs on one user account, it’s contained in that cage. It means no other user can be affected.
Secondly, each cage can only use a certain amount of resource that’s available on the server. This allows finer control over the resources that’s used, making sure that one user can’t use too much at once.
One other thing it allows is control over PHP settings. You can in effect create your own PHP settings and change the PHP version in your account.
With CloudLinux and our RevCloud platform you’re sure to get an amazing small business web hosting experience.
